This summer, I've been taking french classes at night. I only have one class left which makes me a little sad. However, I look forward to putting some other projects onto the front burner. Perhaps over the winter I can take the next level. This class has flooded me with memories of my french studies in Switzerland ten years ago. I remember standing in the aisle of a grocery store and not having any idea what I was looking at. I would pick up boxes and shake them in hopes of a clue. It was very trippy. Trying to communicate with the woman at the register was laughable. It taught me patience and kindness when speaking with foreigners in New York because ,believe me, they are trying harder than you are to have the conversation. The foreign person feels silly and uncomfortable; especially when the person on the other side looks perplexed. In an effort to expand my french vocabulary, I've started to follow a few blogs en francais. Should you not speak any french; the images on these blogs most often speak for themselves.

lovely post, i wish i had continued or had time to manage a foreign language class!
